I am a licensed real
estate broker in Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama, and have been involved
in commercial real estate for several years. I have an extensive knowledge
of the southeast and the Metro Atlanta area, having lived and worked here
since 1974.
Some career highlights:
- Vice President,
Commercial Real Estate Brokerage for third party transactions in metro
Atlanta area for a commercial real estate firm in Marietta, GA.
- Vice President,
Striton Properties in Atlanta, marketing large tracts of company owned
parcels and land value enhancement through zoning and infrastructure
improvements.
- Executive Vice
President of Southmark Equities, the brokerage division of the Southmark
Corporation, brokering land in Metro Atlanta and Northern Virginia.
- City Manager of
Marietta, Georgia for eleven years, managing the largest city in rapidly
growing Cobb County, which is located on the northwest side of Metropolitan
Atlanta. I managed 500 employees, built a new city hall, three fire
stations, and other usual improvements on time and within budgets and
left city in sound fiscal condition. Instrumental in initiating, gathering
support and funding redevelopment of the Marietta Square area, which
is now a focal point of the community.
- Served as Acting
Director of Planning and Zoning for 3 years, successfully focusing on
attracting modern industrial and retail development to balance residential
growth.
- Also served as
Manager of Board of Lights and Water, the local utility
system of 35,000 accounts that covered an area about twice the size
of the city. Keyed on system reliability, employee performance and customer
service.
- Served as Head
of Electric Department for 8 years coordinating Engineering and Distribution
and oversaw installation and operation of computer managed substation
system and peak shaving. Rebuilt most of the distribution system to
current standards.
- Master's Degree
(MA) in Public Administration from the University of Texas at Austin,
concentration in Finance and Resources. Clarence Ridley Scholar.
- Bachelor's Degree
(BA) in Political Science and History from Loyola University of the
South.
- Consultant to the
US General Services Administration on "Problem" projects and
Broker Contracts.
- Lobbyist to the
Georgia Legislature and multiple State Board Appointee.
